Recorded Wooden Shoe Reading: Kaia Sand and Jules Boykoff

Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting in on the reading at Wooden Shoe Books, a collective book store down on South Street. The featured poets were Kaia Sand and Jules Boykoff, both from Portland, Oregon. The first part of Kaia’s performance integrated archived film of the Pacific Coast. Then Kaia took the audience on a “walk” through a section of Portland, using a beautiful sewn map to guide the way. Among the smattering of topics presented, Jules’ reading featured a slideshow of political activists that should be celebrities, and some poems about Alan Greenspan.

The recording’s a bit quiet because I was sitting in the back. You’ll get over it by turning up your speakers, or listening to the reading on head phones.
